Psycho

I am left speechless. I realise I have just watched one of the best films in the history of Hollywood.

Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960) is one of the most psychologically powerful movies that I have ever watched.

Marion is a girl who steals 40000 dollars from her job and runs aways to get to her lover and escape together. On the way she stops in a motel to pass the night where she meets Norman, the man who runs the place and is dedicated to take care of his mentally ill mother.

I am not goint to tell you more just in case you have not watched it, but it is an amazing film.

It was released in 1960 and it was very controversial for nudity, violence and many other things that the Motion Picture Production Code forbid or controlled.

About the film itself:

Firstly the soundtrack: it is irritating, stressful and scary at the same time. It keeps your attention, your nerve is put to the test with it. This is thanks to Bernard Hermann, responsible for bringing the music to other classic films like Taxi Driver and Citizen Kane.

And most important of all: Alfred Hitchcock. The shower scene is probably one of the most unnerving scenes I have watched in my life. It is not this easy terror which we are used to nowadays. It is more psychological, more simple, closer to us. We do not have sudden shocks with blood-crazed creatures of the underworld, or gallons of blood filling up the screen. It is simple, direct, effective, very effective. It actually appears to be a very simple scene, but there are 7 days of filming invested here, from 70 different angles. I have been very impressed, mystified even by this film.

The shower scene makes your skin crawl and it makes you feel unprotected and weak. It is a very psychological fear and suspense.

There have actually been moments during the film in which I have felt scared or at least very anxious.

I have already fallen in love with this film and am telling you that you cannot die without watching it, because it is a piece of art.

10/10. I do not know if I am exaggerating with this mark, but I do know that I have never seen anything quite like it, and not only the famous scenes and the murders; the final scene is blood-chilling and leaves a sense of uneasiness and menace in the air.

UEFA Euro 2012

Yo soy español español, yo soy español español!!

Hey! Just so you guys know, the Euro 2012 is being played this month and its being veery interesting let me tell you.

We are already in quarter finals and after a strange beginning, the favourites are all playing to win!
Spain just won against France and will play against Portugal to get to the grand final!!!
On the other hand, Germany is waiting for a champion in the England-Italy.

Let us talk about Spain (of course)
I think they are doing a very good job, they are being effective (results-wise). On the other hand, their play is quite boring and they never shoot to goal!! OMG its exasperating.

Another thing, please del Bosque, kick Torres in the butt and get Llorente to play for god's sake!!!

Either way, Spain is still the number 1 favourite, although Germany is close behind, let's see how this goes but it's going to be thrilling!

Oh yes, Spain: 7.5/10, they can do sooo much better we do not even realise!

Snow White and the Huntsman

Hello my fellow bloggers (or not). Today's entry is dedicated on bringing to you Snow White and the Huntsman.
I watched this film the other day in the cinema. Directed by and unknown man called Rupert Sanders, and starring Charlize Theron, Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth. Two of those actors are gaining popularity due to high budget adaptations of printed works and Charlize is a very well known and beautiful (hold on to that) actress.

Okay, the film: The story of this Snow White goes very much like the original, only the beginning is different (kinda cool) and the dwarves are not miners, but thieves (there is actually a part in which they talk about being miners before, and one of them carries a peakaxe as a weapon, which I found interesting).
Oh yeah the hunter. That is an important change in the story. So this hunter has to go fetch Snow White from the haunted/magical/dangerous woods and bring her back to the Queen to die. He then turns good and helps out Snow White.

I did not enjoy the dialogues or story too much, as the main attraction in this film was the cast and the special effects and scenery. The cast is very cool, except fro Snow White: Charlize Theron is a great witch, she carries the weight of performance in this film. Chris Hemsworth is confortable in his role as badass good guy, but Stewart.... ohhh Kristen... give some facial expression pleeeaase!! And anyways, it is true that Kristen and Chris are right now really popular and stuff, but who believes the mirror when he says that Kristen is more beautiful than Charlize?! Come OOONNN!

Overall the movie's nice though and very entertaining, although slow at times, so maybe 20 or 30 minutes less would have sufficed.

Action, special effects, the scenery and art (the woods and the garden are greeeat! and the mirror is incredible), Charlize Theron and OK, Chris Hemsworth are the good ingredients in this film, but the slow pace, Kristen Stewart and the poor dialogues are its downfall.

Therefore 6.5/10 for this version of Snow White.

Hooray for Earth

At last: Hooray for Earth

I discovered this band in the same concert as Elephant: San Miguel Primavera Sound in Sala Apolo, Barcelona.

They were the last to play and I really enjoyed their music (I actually bought their album in vynil at the end of the concert).
They have a very strange sounding music: like an electro rock, which have the times sounds very 80's.

Hooray for Earth was born in 2005 in Boston, although nowadays they are based in New York City. Noel Heroux is a polyvalent and very importatn member given that he does basically everything (produces, records, sings, writes, plays...) and he is backed up by Christopher Principe on the base and Joseph Ciampini playing the drums.

They have just released their first album: True Loves and its awesome, very recommendable.

I mark them 8.5/10 and hope to hear more from them!

This is their official website: http://hoorayforearth.net/

And here is some of their music, so enjoy.

Elephant

At last, I will talk about Elephant; a moment I know all of you have been waiting for.

I discovered this band in Sala Apolo, in the San Miguel Primavera Sound in Barcelona, as I said in my entry about that festival: http://sebasrandom.blogspot.com.es/2012/06/san-miguel-primavera-sound.html

Anyway, now I will talk about them:

Elephant was born in 2010 with two components: Amelia Rivas and Christian Pinchbeck.
amelia singing in their concert in Primavera Sound. pic by me! flickr.com/carmona13They have released a couple of singles and EPs and nowadays the band has changed: Christian is no longer with the band and there are now another two guys playing, whose names I do not know.... (if you read this, sorry guys!)

Their music has a very relaxed and chillout style. A great part of the weight of their performance falls on Amelia's voice, which is very strong but smooth and the whole outcome is either entrancing or cheering (as in: it cheers you up). This effect was increased in their performance in Primavera Sound given that the blue and purple lights with smoke around Amelia were very hypnotical.
BTW, if my descriptions of the music and voice are pathetic, I apologize because I am not an expert in this matter and am only describing these things the best way I can, which is probably not good enough LOL.

On top of how good they sound, they are really nice people, given that I was able to talk to them after their concert and they were really friendly and willing to chat. They even sent me some songs later on!

Well I am going to give them an 9/10 because I am not really into alternative and indie music (as you may have realised by my descrptions of their music) but they really surprised me and made me enjoy their concert. I suppose it also helps that Amelia is as gorgeous as her voice, what can I say.
BTW they have released a new single and I think they are going for their next EP!

This is their site: http://elephantshop.bandcamp.com/
And this is the site for their record company, Memphis Industries: http://www.memphis-industries.com/
You can find songs by them in both sites.

Entry on Hooray for Earth will come soon!

Meanwhile enjoy some songs by Elephant (because "Elephant songs" would have sounded weird)

Rápido y Fluido

Sorry! I know I was going to talk about Elephant and Hooray for Earth!, but they will be next!

The thing is yesterday I went to a play directed by a friend and starring another. It was in Carabanchel, Madrid. In a theatre called Teatro Tarambana.

The play is called Rápido y Fluido (Fast and Smooth). It takes place in a living room, owned by Pablo, a movie geek who invites his ex-neighbours (a brother and 2 sisters) who were his childhood friends and have grown apart to meet up. He does this to film a video for the siblings' father, who is hospitalized.
This does not end here, given that while they film, dirty and dark secrets from each other's lives arise.

This is all done in a comical tone, with touches of drama, which are later solved narratively with more comedy.

I really enjoyed it and seeing May Melero acting again after the shortfilm I participated in (17 segundos, I will tell you more later) was great. The director, Alejandra Nogales was also in that shortfilm and her work with this play is great!

8/10 for the play and the laughs!
I would recommend it to go see, but they only had one day in Madrid and are going to Cadiz later on.

San Miguel Primavera Sound

Hello my children, it has been too longo since I wrote a post, so here comes a good one!

I am doing an internship in a small production company in Madrid called Patito Feo, which does publicity and some content for TV. They are great and are treating me very very well. So well in fact, that they took me to Barcelona for a couple of days to help in the filming of one of 5 programs about the San Miguel Primavera Sound Festival that they were producing.

The Primavera Sound Festival is a really big festival of pop, indie, alternative music in Barcelona. It actually includes an incredible variety of musical styles, come to think of it. Well, the thing is that the main festival was this last weekend, in the Forum in Barcelona, with bands like Franz Ferdinand, Wilco, Death Cab for Cutie and many more. But the organization of the festival had been organizing free concerts in bars and concert halls from a month back, and it was a great oportunity for music lovers and small bands trying to get into the musical scene.

By the way, this picture is by me! check me out on flickr carmona13I went on the 29th of may, to Sala Apolo, a very well known music hall in Barcelona. There I listened to great concerts by bands I had never ever heard of. There were two showcases of two different record companies: Memphis Industries and Famèlic.

There were really good bands like the Spanish Mates Mates or Ohios, but there were two that I thought were awesome: Elephant and Hooray for Earth!
I will talk more about these two amazing bands in my next posts, but let me keep talking about my part in the filming:

I had a great time actually. I was in charge of the "foto fija" the still photo. This was usually used in cinema for advertising purpoes, given that the still photo would imitate the actual shots and people got an idea of what the movie looked like. Nowadays it is not used that much due to digital cameras. In my case it was called foto fija but my job was basically to have images for a sort of "making of". I actually appear in the credits! (My first TV credits yay!)

It was really exciting to watch the crew working and checking on the fliming plan (which I had helped pput together :D). They all treated me very well too, so it was very nice to be around them.

In my next posts I will be talking about Elephant and Hooray for Earth in more detail!

Here's a presentation video of the San Miguel Primavera Sound

Life of Brian

Does any of you think that there is a more endurable humour than that of Life of Brian?

I don't.

This film, born from the great minds of Monty Python, was released in 1979 and caused great havoc. Very funny and equally controversial, it tells the Life of Brian, who was born on the same day as Jesus and his life is parallel to that of the Christian Son of God. It received maaaany critiques because it parodies the Christian faith and, looking more deeply into it, any monotheistic faith.

It critisizes and ridicules every aspect of religion and does it in the most inventive and sharp manner.

Totally recommendable you will have a great time and enjoy religion seen as something hysterical and random.

Please watch it, because it is immortal humour.

9.5/10

Here you have one of the most hilarious scenes in the film!
The stutter.

Night of the Living Dead

Hello, today I'm going to talk about a classic: Night of the Living Dead.
Directed by George A. Romero, this 1968 film caused lots of controversy in the USA when it was released because of its explicitly violent scenes and the gore we find in it. Of course, nowadays this is nothing for us, but I think it is very interesting to see the changes in censorship and public reaction to violence from then to now.

The film starrs Duane Jones as Ben, a man who hides in a farmhouse with Barbra (Judith O'Dea) from a crowd of frenzied killers. Once in the house they find more people who are hiding from the killings. Later they find out that these are no normal people: they have been infected by a radiation that came from outerspace and now they can only die if their brain is destroyed. Also, the radiation makes dead people come back to life as the killers that now roam the country.

The film is the fight for survival of this small group of people entrenched in a house against hordes of zombies.

I have very much enjoyed this film even if it is old and in black and white (due to low budget), but this gives the film an interesting aesthetic.

8/10 enjoy de classic zombie film!

Billy Talent III

Yes, I know this album has been around since 2009, but it was only today that I have listened to it whole!

And it is great. Out of the eleven songs, there is not one which I don't like.
I am no Billy Talent expert, but I think they maintained their style and still managed to improve.

Some of the best songs, for your information are:
-The Dead Can't Testify
-White Sparrows
-Saint Veronika

8.5/10 I have already listened to the whole thing 4 times today!

Here you have the music video of one of the songs in the album: Rusted from the Rain.

Enjoy!

Dark Shadows

Johnny Depp has totally redeemed himself after the catastrophic Rum Diary.

This film is great! How could it not be, when it is directed by Tim Burton, with Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green...
The story goes as such: Barnabas Collins is the son of a wealthy Englishman who has gone to the newly colonised America to build a big fishing empire. Barnabas has the bad luck of playing with the feelings of a witch who curses him and his family. She transforms him into a vampire and later turns the town against him to bury him alive for eternity.

This was all in the 18th century. 200 years later (well, 196), in 1972, he manages to get out. What he finds is a world he does not understand and which does not understand him. He also finds his family and company in ruins and the witch that did that to him.

This film is hilarious in many levels, from intelligent humour, silly humour and details. I have loved it. Johnny Depp is impecable as a stiff, colonial-speaking vampire and the dialogues are witty and very well carried out. Also, Eva Green is haaawt in this film!

9/10 for this great film!

Do not miss it!!

Evernote

Do you ever have the need to note something down on a paper so that you can remember later?
A number, a shop, a song, a film.... Well it always happens to me, especially with songs and films.

I tend to use a normal notepad app in my phone, but today I discovered something which is really cool and can be used for more things: Evernote.

This is a program which allows you to take notes in your android, iPhone, aaand your computer, Windows, Mac or tablet or iPad or whatever, and have them all syncronise together! :D
Not only this but it has great features like sound notes aaand notes that type while you talk, SIRI style!
It has another great thing: ok imagine you take a picture of a... business card or the poster of a concert. Even if it is an image, the program recognises the writing and you can search for it within your notes as if it were tagged!

A colleague at the company where I am doing internships showed it to me and I think its great!

Oh another thing! Given that you can use it in your computer, there is an app thing called Evernote wep clipper, which allows you to save a whole page on a website immediately into your notes, and then you can read or search whatever it was you wanted.

Well I thought it was an interesting thing and I a marking it 9/10 for being so practical!

The Rum Diary

Hello my people!

Today I am going to talk about a film by one of the best and most succesful actors in Hollywood (and actually one of my personal favourites): Johnny Depp.

For me Johnny is generally a guarantee that the film is going to be enjoyable and great. Well, that didn't work out this time. The Rum Diary is probably Depp's worst and most boring film (even worse than Pirates of the Caribbean 3, which was terrible). I must say I haven't watched Pirates of the Caribbean 4, but it could not be any worse than it predecessor.

So, Johnny Depp is the journalist Paul Kemp, from New York, and he goes to Puerto Rico in the 1950s to work at a newspaper. From the moment the film starts everything is decadent, his life is lost without a path (like the film's plot) and we see a succession of scenes in which Depp is comatosely drunk. The rest of characters are equally as lost as the script writers and I nearly fall asleep.

So I will mark it a... 3/10 because it has a funny scene in a car, which you guys can live without watching.

There, I hope you follow my advice and go watch The Avengers instead.

League of Legends

Call me a geek, but I am nowadays really enjoying an online game called League of Legends.

It is a platform with graphics and gameplay similar to World of Warcraft, but without it being a role-play game.
What you do is choose a character from one of the many the game has and you fight in a team against another, to try and destroy each other's base. It is actually very simple and you get the hang of it fairly easily.

You play with magic, power and that sort of thing and it is really fun! I would not have started to play this game normally but many of my friends at uni and back home were playing and I tried it, and like it a lot!

The characters are different from one another in abilities and general characteristics of attack (some are hand to hand, others are ranged or support) and when you get the hang of the type you like, you can start playing with your friends in the same team online.

I find it more recommendable than World of Warcraft given that you do not spend your life playing, as you can play a match and that's it, it is not a continuous storyline, and you don't have to pay, you just have to download it for free in their website.

I am really having fun with this game so 9/10.

Do check that your computer is a Windows because it doesn't work with Mac, and you need a decent RAM memory and graphics card.

The Avengers

Pure testosterone, and Scarlett Johansson. That's how you can describe The Avengers.

In a film where we can see Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Loki and Nick Fury, there is only one  thing that can happen: Epicness.

So there we have it, more than two hours of the Avengers being awesome, fighting, answering with catchy phrases and blowing things up. I could not have asked for more. It could not be any more epic, I promise.

It is also very interesting how all the stories of the Marvel characters mix within the film, with the Teseract from Captain America being worked upon by the scientist in Thor, and how Stark's father is the same Stark that helped Captain America and retrieved the Teseract from the depths of the seas. Not only this, but this Teseract comes from Asgard, Thor's planet and Hawkeye had made an appearance in Thor while Black Widow had showed us how sexy she is in Iron Man 2.

Not only the theme, but the cast is amazing. With actors and actresses like Robert Downey Jr, Samuel Jackson, Scarlett Johansson or Gwyneth Paltrow (in a brief appearance) this could not go wrong!

Oh and BTW, please note that Agent Hill is Cobie Smulders, Robin in How I Met Your Mother, an awesome show (9/10)

Great film, really recommendable if you want to have a good time and like to see how one theme fits into another, without thinking too much.

Well, 8/10 and I hope you like it!

Just some food for thought. I was discussing this with some friends, do you guys think that the bad guy at the end could be Hell Boy? Because: Hell Boy is also Marvel, the horns that Loki wears look exactly like Hell Boy's and at the end (after the credits, so wait for it) you can see a red face with a goatee very much like Hell Boy's.
So, if any of you has an answer or something to add to this mystery, please let me know!

Gladiator

I have just watched (for the thousandth time) the best film in the history of Hollywood. Directed by Ridley Scott and starring Russell Crowe: Gladiator.

This incredibe film tells the story of Maximus, a Roman general who is betrayed by the son of the Emperor; Comodus, when Comodus becomes Emperor after killing his own father. Maximus will become a gladiator in the arena of Rome and will fight for revenge.

I cannot describe the excitement I have felt watching this film once again! This excitement I know will come everytime I watch it!

So many memorable phrases like: "What we do in life, echoes in eternity"
"Strength and honour"

And my favourite, when Comodus wants to talk to the Spaniard and Maximus turns around and says:

"My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius. Commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions. Loyal servant to the true Emperor; Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next."

Every single time I hear that phrase I get goosebumps and shivers all over my body.

Not only that, but everytime I watch the film I still hate Comodus with all my heart, for being a coward, a traitor, a criminal, a bastard...... yes I hate him. And everytime I watch the film I hope his death was longer and more agonizing.

Directed by Ridley Scott, starring Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix, could it get any better? Yes! Because the Original Soundtrack (OST) is composed by Hans Zimmer!

It was nominated for 12 Oscars in 2000, winning 5: Best Picture, Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Costume Design, Best Effects (Visual Effects) and Best Sound.

Of course Ridley Scott should have gotten Best Director (he was nominated) and Hans Zimmer Best Music, Orignal Score (he was nominated).

This film is a 10/10, no doubt, and no one should die without having watched it.

I will see it again, but not yet.

HP Pavilion!

Hello guys, I know it has been some time since my last post, I will try to be more continuous with my posts.

Well, today I am going to talk about the HP Pavilion dv6-6b13ss, my new laptop!!

It is aweeesome! For those of you who like computers let me tell you that it has IntelCore i7, 8GB RAM, Radeon graphics and 750GB hard drive. The screen is 15,6" and it is sooo light!

Not only this, but given that HP now has a contract with Beats by Dr. Dre, my laptop is equipped with Beats sounds system, and it has many loudspeakers to make it work incredibly well!

I just began using it last night and I am still importing all of my info from the other laptop, but I tell you this, I am already marking this laptop 9/10!

Here is a picture of the box before I opened it!

The Hunger Games

Hello everyone!
Today I will be talking about The Hunger Games, the book.
Yes, as many of you may already know, the superproduction nowadays in world cinemas is an adaptation of the novel by Suzzane Collins.
This book it the first in a trilogy called The Hunger Games. I have only read the first book, but it is great and I can't wait to read the next two.

The plot is very interesting: in an undefined future, there is a country in what used to be the USA which has 12 districts, all controlled by a central government. The problem is this government is cruel and powerful and every year they organize The Hunger Games, which consists on choosing two teenagers from each of the districts and  dropping them into an arena to fight to the death. These games are televised nationally.

The story then is about Katniss Everdeen, who will try to survive the Hunger Games to return home.

Great book; fast paced, interesting and exciting. 8/10

Wrath of the Titans

At last I watched this film! I had been trying aaaalllll the Easter holidays to convince my friends to go to the cinema and the other day I finally managed the feat! Wrath of the Titans.

This superproduction is pure testosterone in a bottle. With actors of the level of Liam Neeson (The Grey, Taken), Ralph Fiennes (Harry Potter Saga), Bill Nighy (The Best Exotic Hotel Marigold, Love Actually) or Sam Worthington (Avatar, Clash of the Titans) all acting as Mythical characters and most of them being gods or semi-gods, I could only sit there and enjoy the action, the special effects and the 3D in which I watched it.

The plot is not its strong point of course, but the film is great! Soooo much better than its predecessor; Clash of the Titans, which (for me) was a great disappointment.

There is great action and great scenes like Perseus fighting the chimera at the start of the film, Zeus and Hades fighting Chronos or the battle of the soldiers against the army of the underworld.

8/10, for the enjoyment of the film! Don't miss it!

Oh and BTW the trailer with the Marilyn Manson song Sweet Dreams is epic!

Grupo 7

I must admit I am not a big fan of Spanish cinema, but I must also admit that it is slowly getting better and better, and this film, Grupo 7 is a great example of this.

Grupo 7 tells the story of a group of antidrug policemen in the late 80's and early 90's in Sevilla, Spain who use methods very much illegal to obtain their information and find the criminals.

Starring the Spanish teen idol Mario Casas, this film is surprisingly well filmed and has a great opening scene.
The film's plot is not the most original of all and the film still contains the sort of decadence that surrounds all the settings in my country's cinematography, but it is enhanced with a texture and a feeling that this kind of cinema is getting better, and is being more apt to international praise.

I mark it 7/10, but am recommend it as a Spanish film which shows how the industry is evolving.

Game of Thrones

I know I know, so many posts in such a small amount of time, but the thing is I have had some busy days watching films and series (let it be known that I have a free week at uni, I don't usually have sooo much free time, although some would argue otherwise)

So, Game of Thrones' second season has just started!! Wohooo! And it starts as great as the first season ended. This must be one of the best series going around right now (of course with The Walking Dead -see my other posts).

OK cool, at the end of last season the brat of the king has killed Lord Stark!!!! And well this causes the North to call the banners and send an army going down to punish the idiot.
Meanwhile the exiled girl... (sorry for not knowing the names, but there are sooooo many.....) has managed to get the dragon eggs to hatch!!

Well then, the first episode of the second season is just building up more tension and drama, it's great!
I must admit I am getting somewhat confused with so many people, families and heirs to the throne, but I suppose I will get the hang of it as the series goes on.

9/10, you HAVE to watch it!

Oh and the Main Title song is also pretty cool!
Hear it out, these is the Show Open:

Mirror Mirror

On the same day I went to watch The Best Exotic Hotel Marigold I went to watch Mirror Mirror too.

This film starrs Julia Roberts (Pretty Woman, My Best Friend's Wedding) and Lily Collins (Abduction, Priest), daughter of Phil Collins, the famous musician.

It tells the story of Snowhite with an angle which very much resembles Disney's version, although it is not exactly the same.

This film is not great, but what can I say, I really enjoyed it. It's light-hearted and it's nice to pass the time. It is very funny and the appearances of the dwarves and the prince turned into a puppy are actually funny, only silly funny.

I give it a 7/10 for a couple of reasons: it is fun, and the song at the end is quite catchy! Sung by Lily herself it is a very nice way to end the film.
I'll leave you with the song, which BTW is called I Believe in Love. Enjoy!

What can I say I really like the song!

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

Hello!
I realise it has been some time since my last post, but today I have lots of things to tell you guys!

Let us start with The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, a film which starrs very famous (and let us say... veteran) actors such as Bill Nighy (Love Actually, Underworld), Judi Dench (M in James Bond films) or Maggie Smith (Harry Potter saga, Downton Abbey). We can also find Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire).

OK, so this film is about a "luxury hotel" for elders and it is in India, so these English people with nothing to lose go there expecting to live their last days in the shoes of a Maharajah. But what they find there is less than appealing given that Sonny (Dev Patel) is still trying to get the hotel going correctly.

In this very funny and sentimental film we see how each character develops a different view on what surrounds them, each with their own goals and hopes, but all the while we see the fight of each one of them to be happy.

"Everything will be alright in the end; if it's not alright then it's not the end". That is Sonny's phrase to keep him going in this dream hotal his father also dreamt about but never achieved.

I was not too keen on watching this movie, but when I did I really enjoyed it. The images of India are great and the dialogues are witty and also moving.
I mark it 8/10 and recommend it to whoever enjoys a laugh and a bit of emotion in a film.

The Walking Dead (2)

[Spoiler Alert]

Maaaaan! I just finished watching the second season of The Walking Dead and it is just tooooo aaaweeesooomeee!!!!

They have really applied the "twist in the story" right!
Fuuuuuuuck! (am I allowed to publish that word? LOL)
SO we have Shane gone crazy and put down by his best friend Rick. Meanwhile half the group dies in a zombie avalanche and when they get back together, Rick is broken and becomes a goddam dictator!
Another thing, no wonder my friends and the whole internet is pissed off at Lori! What a bitch! She needs to get her fucking priorities straight!

Oh! And let us NOT forget that mysterious hooded ninja who just saved Andrea and has two unarmed (get it?) zombies chained up following him or her!

Third season is going to be great! Let's see where it takes us!

9.5/10!!!

BTW, was I the only one who thought they needed swords already?

2-Headed Shark Attack

Today I want to to talk about a film that I saw mentioned on 9gag and could NOT believe that existed!!

2-Headed Shark Attack tells the typical story of americans lost a paradise island, with hot chicks and guys who want to party and have sex (starring Carmen Electra, for example) who get stupidly killed by a shark. But this time the shark has TWO heads!!! LOL

I really really really thought these kind of films did not exist anymore! I mean, I knew films like Godzilla vs King Kong and German films for Sunday afternoons like Moth Man (which doesn't even appear on IMDb, just checked) existed, but this is just too much!

OK I know it's going to sound biased on my part, but I have only watched the trailer and I will mark this film -2/10.
Yeah I know that films can be so much better than their trailer, and that there is a possibility of great special effects and an actually interesting and deep script... but I will take my chances.

Here is the trailer, enjoy!

The Walking Dead

This is very possible one of the most entertaining and attention-grabbing series as of lately. The Walking Dead has just finished its second season and it is great. I am actually only half way through, although my so called friends have already spoiled it terribly. No problem because it is very enjoyable to watch and it has you hanging on the edge of your seat to see what happens next.
This series is like a zombie film but over many episodes and each one of them has a great production which makes the scenery, make up and action scenes as thrilling as a good action movie.

9/10 you cannot miss it if you like zombies, action and suspense.

Downton Abbey

So I watched the first episode of Downton Abbey, the series is set in the pre- WWI England, where a family of lords is faced with a great problem: The Titanic just sunk and the two heirs have died. The next in line is a third cousin which no one has ever met and the worst part of all... he is a doctor, part of the working class.
This very interesting series shows the relationship between the different social classes and the inner machinations that lords, servants and basically everyone have going on.

I have only watched the first episode but its a 9/10 and I will watch the rest for sure!

Wakey!Wakey!

OK I wasn't planning on doing another post for some days until I checked through a friend's blog and found this band: Wakey!Wakey!

My friend's blog is pretty cool, it's all about music and you can find loads of different things. This is her site: http://musicoftheages.wordpress.com/
Check it out it's worth it!

Going back to this band, my friend says that the singer, Mike Grubbs, had a role on One Tree Hill for some episodes, but I wouldn't know!

Here are a couple of songs, see what you think about them:

Well I hope you enjoyed that! I will go for an 8/10 for these guys too.
Here's their website if you're interested in knowing more!

The Grey

They other day I watched Liam Neeson's last film: The Grey.
Seven workers for a petrol company see themselves in a tight situation when their plane crashes in the middle of Alaska and they are the only survivors. Liam Neeson is the company's hunter (so the animals in Alaska don't eat the workers when they are outside) and he tries to lead the group to safety.

It shouldn't be too complicated, because they are only seven, they have no food, no shelter, no weapons and.. oh yeah, they have crashed in the hunting territory of an angry pack of grey wolves. It seem that wolves in Alaska are enormous because these bastards are going to start ripping the fuck out of the poor workers while they try to get so safety.

It is probably one of the most distressing films I have ever watched, but the idea works out pretty well, even if the plot sounds somewhat stupid. It works out cool, I promise.
The cinematography is very cool too, with what looks like steady cams all the way and plays with light and darkness. Also the photography is very nice, although it is not difficult given that Alaska is pretty much virgin.

Very recomendable film: 8/10

Oh BTW, do not miss the end! It is one of the most badass things I've seen!

this is sebas' random hobbies!

Hi there!

I am sebas and this is the blog I have created to talk about and share my hobbies and the things I spend my time on. This can include -but not be limited to- cinema, music, photography, sports and any other random thing that catches my attention.

I hope you guys enjoy it!

In this first entry I want to talk about Walk the Moon, an indie-rock band from the States which Spotify was advertising. I was looking for some new music so I clicked on it and they have just released a new EP called Anna Sun, with three songs which are great!
Here is one of them, enjoy!

I will say that they deserve an 8/10
And this is their website in case you are curious: http://walkthemoonband.com/
